Gray v. Commonwealth

The Supreme Court affirmed the judgment of the circuit court convicting Defendant of three counts of violating a protective order, kidnapping, two counts of first-degree unlawful imprisonment and other offenses. On appeal, Defendant argued that the trial court erred by admitting improper character evidence and by failing to grant a directed verdict on the two counts of first-degree unlawful imprisonment. The Supreme Court held (1) evidence of Defendant’s “other crimes, wrongs, or acts” was properly admitted; and (2) this court declines to grant palpable error review of Defendant’s claim that he was entitled to a directed verdict on first-degree unlawful imprisonment.
